About Department

  1. About the Department:

 

The University Department of Philosophy was established in 2011. As a centre for postgraduate studies and research, the Department has been serving the students of Jharkhand and even outside Jharkhand, aspiring for Postgraduate studies and Research in Philosophy. The Department offers CBCS based two years postgraduate course which is constituted of four semesters. The Department offers core and elective papers in the postgraduate program. As a centre for philosophical studies and research the Department gives an equal importance to Indian and Western Philosophy, covering Classical, Ancient, Modern and contemporary trends in Philosophy. In its academic activities the Department also organizes time to time special lectures, seminars, and talks by subject experts on different topics. The Department also encourages scholars to work on Tribal culture, knowledge systems and philosophy. In the years 2017- 2020 three Research Scholars have been awarded Doctoral degree. Presently seven Research Scholars are registered for pursuing Doctoral degree. In the sessions 2021-2023 and 2022-2024, forty three students have taken admission for pursuing postgraduate degree in the Department.

The Department is committed for the formation of students with regard to character building, enhancement of intellectual abilities, empowering and imparting knowledge with cultural, socio-political, economical and ethical values, development of skillful abilities, competitive professional skills, and for the growth of the dimensions of human consciousness, so that they can lead a better life and build a better society and nation.

Achievement

The Department published the Book "गाँधी दर्शन शिक्षा एवं संस्कृति" in academic session 2022-2023 to promote research and publication. One of the Faculty Members Dr. Pascal Beck, Assistant Professor was awarded from ICPR, New Delhi of Rs. 700000/ for organizing Three day National Seminar on the Topic "आदिवासी दर्शन, संस्कृति एवं परम्परा" In December, 2022 one Student of the Department qualified NET. The pass out students are almost getting settled in their life and availing their service to society in different areas. Among them many are occupying the posts both in governmental and private sectors as teacher, police, journalist, businessman etc.

Activities

The Department organized Three day National Seminar, sponsored by ICPR, New Delhi from May 12-14, 2023 on the Topic: "आदिवासी दर्शन, संस्कृति एवं परम्परा"
