- University Dept. of Botany came into existence in 2011 for regular course of M.Sc.
- The departmental is actively engaged in research work and seminal work has been done in the field of medicinal plants

Activities
On 1st April, 2021 an online guest lecture was organized by the University Department of Botany, K. U., Cbsa on “Importance of Proteins in Daily Diet”. Resource person Dr. Rama Subramanyam, Department of Home Science, Jamshedpur Women’s College, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, spoke about the role of proteins in our daily diet. Total 100 participants attended the session.
Guest lecture on Value Education “AIDS Awareness” was organized on 18th April, 2021. Resource Person. Dr. Jagannath Hembrom, Sadar Hospital, Chaibasa, explained the structure of the HIV, mode of transmission & multiplication and control measures of the retrovirus. About 100 participants attended the session. This session was also online mode.
- About 80 participants were attended a National Webinar on “Virus and its Impacts on Organisms” organized by Department of Botany, Chhatrasal Govt. PG College, Panna, MP (Under the auspices of IQAC, Department of Higher Education Govt of MP, RUSA and World Bank Scheme MPHEQIP) on 12th Feb 2021
- 75 students were attended a National Webinar on “Botanic Gardens and Biodiversity of India: Identification, Conservation and Management” Organized by Department of Botany, Govt. Madhav Sadashivrao Golvalkar College, Rewa M.P. on 17th-18th February 2021
- 60 students were attended a “National Webinar” on “Biosphere Reserves of India: Identification, Conservation and Management” Organized by Department of Botany, Govt. Madhav Sadashivrao Golvalkar College, Rewa M.P. 19th March 2021
- There were about 6 webinars ”National” as well as “International” conducted by University Department of Botany, Kolhan University, Chaibasa from different subjects.
- Five online quiz competitions were also conducted by University Department of Botany, Kolhan University, Chaibasa from different subjects.
- Every Saturday essential seminars as well as webinar were conducted by the department.
